Ghosts Of Pasha
THIS IS YOUR LIFE US LP.20 songs
Using one microphone set in the bands living room, this
recording features Philadelphia session bass player Ben Contois. Its stripped
down, vigorously upbeat live trio sound rose above the home-y-comfort of “the
pig sun” and “ ...glove” and brought the band on tour, to another tv appearance,
and to its recent status as lo-fi soundtrack for popular “bathing beauty” web
dramas like “Roommates” and “Malibu U.”
Way to Go Glove.
3disks.60songs
Tracked during the downtime between the Feb 2005
filming of “this American life” and its March 2007 air date for Showtime
network, GOP's way to go glove can best be described as “all over the map”
With 60 lo-fi songs, 4 vocalists, too many guest instrumentalists to count and a general attitude of “think it, do it”, this 3-disk collection displays a home recording due without boundaries or hesitation. Featuring unique cover and inlay art by Cosmocto.

The
Pig Sun.17songs
After 2 years of press all over the world, the GOP moniker
was seemingly everywhere in easily 2006. Unfortunately, Chris Partyka had left
Vermont for the west coast and a new life, believing the GOP phenomenon to be
exclusively as internet anomaly and not to be taken too seriously.
Coaxed back to the east by Milo Finch's new video editing projects, Chris returned to Vermont that March jaded but full of creative excitement. The duo wasted no time and began obsessively taping unnamed sessions of “in the moment” or “off the cuff" music.
In roughly 2 months, the groundwork of 77 songs surfaced as bizarre improvised mash-ups of psychedelic rock, classic rock, indie rock, and multi-instrumental folk. 17 of these tracks were shaped into the pig sun, released summer 2006 to a small torrent of press and acclaim locally and overseas, which upped morale for the band considerably and led to greater confidence on its upcoming recordings and live appearances.

During the high of attention from the trash talking press and internet trolls they set out to record a full length studio record, the project was put on hold as the GOP era of the band collapsed. Leaving it now, a long term project that Milo and Chris still tinker at from time to time.

CHRIS PARTYKA
"i'm sleeping" c2005 - one of three recordings made in just 3 months in winter of 2005 seattle washington, "im sleeping" is to date the most produced account of multi instrumental/clarinet music in chris's catalogue. features a dream-sequence-like 'game music' piece built of samples of chris's own clarinet playing, and a handful of very creepy quiet instrumental recordings laden with key changes, dark acoustic guitars, his most complex clarinet arrangements to date, 10 percussion instruments and even accordion. "earthy, dark, quiet live instrumental game music."
"antelope" c2005 - immediately after the completion of im sleeping, "antelope" is a 10-minute song by song account of an imaginary video game soundtrack documenting the life and death of an antelope. features a clarinet version of NES game METROID's 'item acquisition theme', composed to signify the tiger's newly acquired dinner, the antelope's heart.
"secret shoes" c2005 - as funds dwindled, chris became extremely reclusive
during the recording of 'im sleeping', 'antelope', and 'secret shoes', spending
day and night hunched over a sequencer keyboard and computer during the 2005
christmas season while living in a giant old seattle house filled with glass art
and 1800's memorabilia. a big fan of game soundtracks but aware of their often
cliche musical structures, chris created a 17 song soundtrack to the dream game
in his mind, a game where chris must find levels of his own consciousness, and
new worlds within the universe of self. youll find the usual battle music, boss
music and field music, but as the soundtrack progresses the recording becomes
more and more surreal until the listener is swept up into chris's bizaare, often
scary world. a feeling of isolation and beauty abounds here, with inspiration
from otherworldly music like my bloody valentine, and the latter recordings of
u.k. synth pop-turned-atmospheric-orc
Mid-Fi Lo-Fi Programming 99-04
"mid-fi lo-fi programming 99-04" c2005 - a collection of 36 very short 4 track and digtally recorded sequencer pieces, or "game music" recorded in florida, seattle and new jersey, assembled in johnson vermont in spring 2004. 16 of these pieces were recorded in winter 2003 during the mixing of the ghosts of pasha recording "come on." the sound quality here differs from song to song, producing an effect of different time periods, geographical locations and moods. track 36 is a slow-building 4 minute 40 second rendition of ghosts of pasha's "hum of the grand union" featuring an ending phillip glass would be proud of.
"old ghost at kevins" c2003 - recorded right before chris' move to vermont (and ghosts of pasha's beginnings) and the last excursion produced during his near two year break from travel, this is the clearest sounding record of chris's multi instrumental prog phase. three pieces built on drums, fretless guitar and clarinet, recorded by kevin karr in his mom's basement. track 4 is a sped up snippet of kevin on drums.
"sayreville" c2002 - over 30 tracks of extreme tape hiss, rudimentary computer recordings, clarinet arrangements, low budget game music, drum/vocal/clarinet noise and early versions of later more produced faire, recorded during a year long stay at chris's parent's house in sayreville new jersey, where he spent alot of time getting to know his youngest brother, jeff partyka. considered a 'home recording classic' by jeff, who has recorded sample-based sound collage since 2001.
"south amboy" c2002 - features "teen beat"..chris's first 'one man band' piece, a hissed out combo of avant shoegaze, 70's prog ala henry cow and this heat, black metal ala dark throne, and fretless guitar 4track jazz.. included also are party recordings of brother jeff reenacting the story of his scary post-christian snake ritual experience. hes alive today but now picks his friends more wisely. the second recording from chris's return home after 7 years of travelling the u.s.
"high plains drifter magazine" c2000 - until 2000, chris refused to "release" any music he recorded unless it was a 4-track cassette tape, and when he did release it, all that really meant was that he made 4 or 5 copies and sent them to friends around the country. h.p.d.m. is the first set of songs he recorded in MP3 format, which he became interested in after discovering the file sharing program napster while living in a trailer in rural montana. included are super hissed clarinet arrangements, cut and paste sample oriented material, found sound drone pieces, and dubbed 4track sequencer music, or "video game music" as its now called. "the greasy salesman" features florida's marcus rich on drums.
